Assistant Principal: Carmen De La Cruz Scales
Mrs. Carmen De La Cruz Scales is a native of the Dominican Republic. In the early 80’s her family immigrated to New York where she completed her secondary education and graduated from Queens College with an undergraduate degree in Education and Spanish Literature. She also earned a Master’s degree in Second Language Acquisition from George Washington University and second Master’s in Educational Leadership from George Mason University. She began her career in Arlington Public Schools over 20 years ago as a classroom teacher at Key Immersion Elementary School. She also worked at Kenmore as an ESOL/HILT teacher and at Claremont Immersion as a mathematics coach. Before coming to Hoffman Boston she was the county’s Elementary Mathematics Specialist for four years.

On a personal level she has been married for 19 years and has two sons who keep her young, grounded and connected to her passion for education.Ms. De La Cruz Scales is looking forward to starting another year with the Hoffman-Boston community.
