Restoration of the Hoffman-Boston Elementary School Garden

Campbell’s Eagle Project:

For my project, I led volunteers in refurbishing Hoffman-Boston Elementary School’s garden. Landscaping company, Campbell and Ferrara, generously donated railroad ties for the project. The volunteers and I worked for 6 days weeding and installing weed barrier in the outer gardens, mulching the outer garden, removing rotting wood and hammering in nails into new erosion barriers, replacing old mesh fencing and fence posts, and sprinkling grass seed on the patchy grass path.

T is restored garden will now provide a safe environment in which elementary school students can learn how to plant, grow, and maintain flowering plants and edibles for years to come. School staff can now sit at the picnic benches in the newly mulched outer garden and enjoy their well-deserved breaks.

Also thank you to Scoutmasters Jodi and Tony Baker, David Hellinga, Helen Marcks, Kiko Cavalcante, Guillermo Garcia, Miranda Garcia, Josue, Finn, Arshad, and the other Scouts & Scoutmasters of Troop 350 for helping me on my trail to Eagle.
