My name is Kelly Barrett. I am originally from New Jersey and moved to Arlington, VA 14 years ago after graduating from James Madison University, where I received my Masters degree in Elementary Education. This is my 8th year at Hoffman Boston. I started my adventure in 3rd grade and moved up to 4th grade in 2019. I have previously taught 5th grade as well as 6th grade in Fairfax County. I just recently finished my 2nd Masters at UVA in Administration and Supervision. My love for school and learning is endless. I am excited for the new school year and the new challenge of teaching and learning online.

Sierra

Teacher: Ms. Marsicek

My name is Sierra Marsicek. I am originally from Wisconsin and moved to Arlington, VA in 2016 with my sister. I graduate from St. Norbert College in De Pere, WI with a degree in Elementary Education. This will be my ninth year teaching. I taught 4th/5th grade in Wisconsin and have been teaching 4th grade ever since joining the All Star family! I love to teach math and learn new strategies from my students, but spend most of my free time reading. However, during the fall, I am often spending my Sundays cheering on the Green Bay Packers! My favorite time of year is winter because the Virginia summer heat has taught me to appreciate the cold weather. I am excited for the new school year and the new challenge of teaching and learning online.

Reading Specialist: Mrs. Columbo

Hello! I’m Cindy Columbo and I’m a Reading Specialist at Hoffman-Boston. In the 2015-2016 school year I made the switch to APS after teaching elementary school in Fairfax County for several years. When I started teaching in Arlington County, I worked as a first-grade teacher at Discovery ES, while completing my Reading Specialist endorsement from GMU. After working at Discovery ES, I joined the Barrett ES community for five years and enjoyed co-teaching and providing interventions (Reading Recovery, LLI, and OG) for various groups of students in the lower and upper elementary grades.I’m very excited to be joining the Hoffman-Boston All Stars and supporting grades four and five!  I look forward to all the exciting challenges and triumphs this year has to bring! When I’m not teaching, I love to read, bake, travel, and spend time with my family and friends. I especially enjoy taking weekend excursions with my husband and two young boys as we bike through Arlington and Falls Church City and visit various parks close to our home.
